Story Of Chiropractic Profession

Definition of Chiropractic:

A health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. Chiropractors understand that one of the main causes of pain & disease is the misalignment & abnormal motion of the vertebrae in the spinal column called a SUBLUXATION.

The Chiropractic adjustments works by removing these subluxations in the spine, thereby relieving pressure & irritation on the nerves, restoring joint mobility, and returning the body back to a state of normal function.

Chiropractic was founded Daniel David Palmer, a Health practitioner in 1895. "Chiropractic" derived from the Greek "Cheir" (hand) & "Praktos" (done!) means "Done by hands". In 1897, he has founded the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa (USA). This Healthcare profession is the Third in the world with more than 150000 Doctor of Chiropractic & recognised by The World Health Organisation (W.H.O.).

The art of spinal manipulation has been practised for thousands of years according to writings from ancient Greek and Chinese civilizations. Chiropractic (from Greek: done by hand) is a respected and long-established profession. It dates from 1895 when Canadian Daniel David Palmer performed the first chiropractic adjustment, founding The Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1897.

Over the years the profession has gained recognition and is now recognised by many UK government and medical organisations and supported by published research.

Chiropractic is not a quick fix or miracle cure. Chiropractors aim to get patients out of pain and then help them reduce the risk of future problems. We offer advice on nutrition and diet, exercise and posture to help the patient manage their condition and prevent future problems. This lifestyle advice is given as part of the first consultation and at a free Spinal Care evening class, where patients can learn more about the causes of spinal problems and how to avoid them.
